This workshop program has a distinct business orientation and focuses on providing both the technical and non-technical professional insights that will be helpful in addressing legal issues from a business prospective. The workshop has a many interactive components and maintains a high level of interest through involvement of the participants. Many intellectual property and licensing issues are presented to the participants for discussion and resolution in small groups. The largest group case study takes place in the later half of the afternoon and includes group discussions and presentations. Vertex designed this program to suit experienced business personnel. There is never more than 15 minutes of presentation between group exercises. This approach reinforces the learning process through effectively demonstrating the relevance of the business theory and legal issues presented and discussed. The objectives of this one-day workshop are to:

- Developed an understanding of intellectual property and how Canadian law protects patents, trademarks, copyrights and industrial designs;

- Learned when and how a licensing strategy can be used to directly and indirectly increase revenue.
